March Showcase - Spring Fever!!

Happy Monday!! It always amazes me how fast time flies! I cannot believe it is already March! In honor of winter almost being over, our theme for this month is Spring Fever!!

Today I have a congradulations baby card I made with the new Graphic 45 Little Darling collection, as nothing beats spring fever than with the birth of a baby!!

One of my favorite things about using Graphic 45 paper is how easy it is to create amazing embellishments with just the paper!! In this case, I used the Lullably paper for the background and New Arrival & Baby Borders to create the embellishments by matting them onto Tim Holtz Glassine Paper and coating the images with Ranger Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint!

Bo Bunny Weekend Market

Happy Sunday :-)

6 new Bo Bunny lines came into Scrapbookers Paradise this week. This was my favorite!! Weekend Market. The line has a board book, and I fell in love with it. You get 6 pages to play with.... here is what I came up with :-)

On the front cover I used the Shabby Chic embossing powders to make the sign post. It looks like metal, but it's just chipboard. :-) All the paper is from the Bo Bunny Weekend market line, and the new vintage Bo Bunny dots.

The butterflies are from Tim Holtz's Easter Die. Beautiful Butterflies! I used one of Tim's fragments here for some of the stamps.

I added a few charms along the way, just for fun.

lots of Bo Bunny bling, and trinkets and brads. I used a ribbon hinge again, so I could add a door.

You may recognize this as the backing to the Trinket packaging.

Graphic 45 Metal Film Canister

February the month of love. And yes I love my family.... but in the scrapbooking world I love......

Graphic 45... again. I can't Help it, I love their stuff! They have a metal film canister that I fell in love with a few months ago. As soon as I saw it I thot " Great place for my Grauman's Theatre pix!!! It took awhile to round then up, and then I cracked opened the tin...... the one hard thing about this project was making it with limited layers, so it fit back inside the tin!

first step was to add some "age" to it, a few drops of alcohol ink and a felt dabber,

spread it around, then did some dabs of another color and added some green acrylic paint.

I wrapped the bottom of the tin with Tim Holtz's film strip. I glued it down with Glossy accents. It's a great adhesive for this as it dries completely clear.

a few clips to hold in place while the glue sets.

while that dries I inked the edge of all the pages with vintage Photo.

I used my printer to make the Title, but you could just as easily use thicker letters, or rubons.It was time to pick the cover picture.

which I changed my mind on, 4 times. Once it was glued down my decision was over!

since it was Grauman's it needed hand prints. Jolee's had some cute handprints.... but I wanted to make my own, so I got some of the ultra cool mold n pour! The purpose of this molding clay is to press an object into it and then pour one of many mediums and you have a little charm, or embellishment. But for my purpose on this project, I left it as a mold and voila I have handprints in "cement"

mix together, press image. I used a stamp, into the clay and wait til it sets.

for the next page I used the Maya Road tulle, I ran some sookwang tape along the back side, a thin one so it bent easily, peeled off the backing and then attached my tulle.

What is Grauman's without a Red Carpet? I used red velvet paper, and stamped the footprints with memento ink. The stamp is Stampers Anonymous. Since there was already a red velvet rope in the picture I placed the sticker from Reminisce right over top.

page 2, I stamped some images from the 7 Gypsies stamp set, Ephemera, punched out a few stars that I used throughout the book. added some little tickets cut out from the "My Favorite things" die, added a little award and a piece of film. All the pictures I used I tore the edges and inked with Vintage Photo.

a few more stickers from Paperhouse, stars and my favorite, the popcorn. For the background on this one I used distress ink over a 6x6 crafters workshop template.

there was a picture of popcorn on the sticker but making it fluffy is so much fun. I used the white liquid applique, 2 layers heated it to puff it up and dabbed yellow stickles on it.

the little tickets are the MFT die again and luckily for me there was a stamp in the 7 Gypsies set, that fits exactly!

7 Gypsies mini round hanger holds the mini tickets.

I needed a new title for the next part of me and Maddie's day. Ripped and inked some paper pieces and film strip and tucked them randomly around the photo. I stamped more images from the 7 Gypsies set. Such a versatile stamp set!

last page, and I had a few pictures left... so I made a flap! Used sookwang tape on the back of a piece of the velvet paper, and made a velvet hinge :-) The film strip is the handle to open the flap. I added a few footprints around the edge.

oh and surprise there is a pocket!

back page, no bling, just an end.

the lid has a photo, a few more stickers, stars and a film strip. I glued it with fabri-tac, and held in place while it dried so I could get a nice loop.

all the makings of a film,

the bottom is lined with the last of the velvet paper, and the book fits!!!

Showcase Monday - Lovely

Happy Monday and Happy Family Day!

For the rest of February, Showcase Monday is focusing on Leap Year! What are you going to be doing on the extra day this year?

It falls on a Wednesday so I will be working and most likely also shopping! Now CHA is over, all the lovely beautiful products are flying into the stores, and the delivery truck comes every Wednesday! Wednesday morning, boxes and boxes of NEW items arrive and I often leave the store that evening with a green bag full of new goodies!

Happy Sunday everyone!!

I love this time of the year for all of the new amazing products that come into our stores!!

Today I have a couple of page layouts that I made using the new My Minds Eye Paper collection "Follow your heart"! I added a few things like canvas corp corrugated cardboard and picket fence crackle paint to add some texture!!

We get pictures of my kids done every year in this style at Heritage Park! I love them and they are alot of fun to scrapbook! I even went all out and hand stitched with some twine in the above layout!! I stitched the zig zag at the top and in the bottom left hand corner!!! I hope you enjoyed my layouts!!

I Love the new My Minds Eye paper

The moment I spied this sheet, I knew exactly

what I was going to do with it.

Any scrapbooker who tells you they do not have another

collection would be ~~lying~~... I mean embellishing the truth.

I just happen to have a ~~hoard~~ collection of sands from places we have traveled.

Well it is that time of the year again and Valentines is just around the corner well tomorrow actually!! For my project, I decided I would make a gift bag instead of a page or card!! This is what I came up with!

This gift bag was alot of fun to make! The paper corset I made by first googling paper corsets. I then drew the pattern onto black cardstock and cut it out. I then ran it through my bigshot with and embossing folder and added ribbon in the appropriate places!! It is perfect for that special gift for valentines day!!

Hello!

I have the Valentine's Day card I made for this year to share with you today. Usually my Valentine's cards are pink and full of hearts but this years one is a little different!

The new My Mind's Eye collection came in last week and I fell in love with the Miss Caroline Stamp set....I even used 5 images from this set in my card!

I pulled out my Colorbox Chalk Inks for this card. I love my Distress Ink inkpads but when it comes to clear stamps I find the chalk ink works the best especially with brand new stamps and Chestnut Roan is a great brown. I used Old Paper Distress Ink along the edges of all the pieces.

Playing in Paradise #53: Musically Inspired

Happy Valentine's Day weekend! Are you like me and wondering how Valentine's Day got to be so big? On the other hand, there is so much inspiration in this holiday of love for the paper crafter!

I lived my teen years in the 90's and the mix tape figured prominently as a "life essential". Even today I get a little sentimental every time a song comes on the radio that was a part of the mix tape my future husband gave me years ago. You know I wore that tape right out! So I thought it would be fun to do a challenge inspired by music.

For my layout I chose the lyrics from the theme song to one my children's favourite movies, Toy Story, to scrap these photos of my girls and their cousin. I used papers and embellishments from October Afternoon's Farmhouse line to coordinate with the colours in the photos - yellow and blue are so hot right now! More close ups on my blog, but don't run off until you've checked out the rest of the projects and heard about what you could win by participating this week!

Valentine's Day Tag

Good Morning!

I have a Valentine's Day tag to share with you today! I set myself a little challenge to make a one layer item. I did break this rule by adding the black cardstock behind the tag but the back did not look very clean after all the inking!!

I used two stamp sets by Tim Holtz and 4 colours of Distress Ink.

I used a Sizzix die to create the funky scallop edge and I used the TagLine Stamp by Flourishes again.....I love this stamp, its such a handy sentiment collection to have.

Technique Tuesday!!

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday!! Today I have a card to share with you! Yesterday Morning I had the opportunity to share a segment with Allison Orthner on Breakfast TV at the south Scrapbookers Paradise store so I though I would share the card I created!

One of the two techniques I would like to highlight is the Faux Silk Technique which is how I created the Background. The first thing you do is cut a piece of tissue paper slightly larger than the piece of cardstock and crumple it. you then take a gluestick (this is one of the few things I actually use a glue stick for) and cover your cardstock. You then stick down the tissue paper.

The next thing I did was to trim the edges down and using Barn Door Distress Ink I lightly covered the top so you can really see the texture of the tissue paper! To finish this piece off I used a black Tombo Marker and created some faux stitching.

The second technique I want to highlight is the Metallic looking brads in the right hand corner! These are my new absolute favorite!! I found this idea on the graphic 45 blog ! Supplies needed is 3D foam squares, the aged silver stampendous embossing enamel and a heat gun!

The first thing I do is take the top cover of the pop dot off, I then dump the embossing powder directly onto the dots (as they are double sided adhesive you don't have to worry about versamark). The next step is to heat it up and watch as your pop dots are transformed into something else!!!

So much FUN!!!!! To finish the card I added a flower some flourishes that I cut out from using the Tim Holtz Die Elegant Flourishes as well as a love ticket which also belongs to Tim Holtz!!

I created this LO with

Bo Bunny's Enchanted

Black and White line. It is the perfect

wedding paper. You can add any accent or

color to your LO. It has emboss sheets and

sparkle. This is a very classy line of paper.

I used the following papers:

Petaloo has out done themselves with this

wonderful ribbon

I do a lot of hand cutting and find

these cutter bee scissors work the best for me

A hint for hand cutting is to only put your thumb in the

scissor opening. This allows your hand better control and

your fingers will not get as cramped.

A little fold out book

Ok, my last post was Massive! so I promise to do smaller ones...lol Here is a little fold out photo book that I made years ago, and thought I would re visit it with a new splash, and show all our wonderful readers. This would be cute for Valentine's day too you can make it into a card!

First step is to get 3 pieces of paper cut to 8x8.

You can use card stock, or patterned paper, just make sure it is on the thicker side. I used a solid color to show you because it was easier to see the score marks without a printed pattern.

Score each paper corner to corner only once.

Then score at 4 inches across the middle and then the other way, so you have one diagonal fold and a cross through the middle. Do this for for all three.

Glue the squares together so that the center overlaps both outside.

Fold along your scoring. Bring the 2 outside pieces up on the diagonal...

and the center one fold down on the diagonal

When you bring them all together

they will make a square again.

Cut 2 pieces of Patterned paper for the front and back cover. 5x5

Cut 2 pieces of cardboard 4x4 for inside the front and back cover.

Cover the cardboard and fold the sides under.

sandwich the ribbon between the cardboard cover and the back page

Then when you adhere the cover to the front

and back of the folded square you made,

it will be sandwiched between the layers.

Decorate as you wish.

I used the Sew Easy tool to punch hearts into the the 2 blank squares

Sewed the red floss...

Added some Prima bling

Tied the bow and it is done.

This is my finished project. I will write sweet nothings on the blank part, and I have a cute card for my hubby .

The photo sizes will end up being 3.5 and you can fit 4 into the booklet. Also... I guess this wasn't as short a post as I promised after all????

Phew! I made it! Shaw was having service issues tonight so I did not get on to the Internet until now...and these posts can take a little finagling to get together! And with the husband away at a business conference all week, I was real worried I wouldn't get this up!
